Apr 27, · The story of Pocahontas has been passed down through the centuries. Her relationship with John Smith has been characterized as a romance . I really enjoyed reading this book. I always wondered what Pocahontas' story was really like beyond that of the Disney version and its subsequent direct-to-video movie. The book really transformed my entire perception of the character - the girl, and not a grown (model-esque) woman - and who John Smith was in the context of her historic life/5.
