An employer's non-discrimination policy, or equal employment opportunity policy, typically covers conditions of employment including hiring, promotions, termination and compensation. The Policy on Equal Opportunity and Workplace Conduct extends to Department programs as well as programs receiving financial assistance from the Department. The Department will strictly enforce all equal opportunity, civil rights, and whistleblower protection laws throughout all bureaus, offices, and Department programs. The strengths and weaknesses of approaches to eliminating discrimination are analysed in relation to workplace practices and policies. These include equal opportunities and diversity management. The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Diversity Policy should be read in conjunction with the Anti-Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Bullying Policy which aims to ensure that our workplace is free from all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment.
Equal opportunity employment practices generally involve adhering to federal, state and local laws that prohibit discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
